Which transit lines do you track new builds near?
METRO runs three light rail lines and one bus rapid transit route. No new rail or BRT opens in 2026-2027, so these are the lines that matter for a move this year or next.
| Line | Where it runs | Useful for |
|---|---|---|
| METRORail Red Line | Northline through Downtown, Midtown, the Museum District, Hermann Park, the TMC and NRG Park | TMC shifts, Downtown offices, Rice and the museums |
| Green Line | Downtown east through the East End | East End and Downtown |
| Purple Line | Downtown southeast past University of Houston and Texas Southern University | UH, TSU and Downtown |
| Silver Line Route 433 | Uptown along Post Oak | Galleria-area offices |
Each building on this page shows its line, the nearest stop and the walk distance, stated as a fact.
What does car-light living save?
Parking is the biggest line you can change. Many new mid-rise and high-rise buildings use structured parking and charge per space. If you can share a car or skip one, that charge comes off your true monthly.
We put parking on its own line on every card. If a building bundles a space you won’t use, we ask whether you can skip it. A METRO Q Card or app fare replaces some of that cost, and we leave room for it in your budget.
Walk distance, not “steps away”
We list the distance from the building door to the nearest stop. Houston summers and wide crossings change how a walk feels, so you can judge the time yourself.
Is transit useful for TMC hospital shifts?
Yes. The Red Line stops at the Texas Medical Center Transit Center and other TMC stations. For early and late shifts, check the first and last train times, and ask the building about garage access for the days you drive. We send those questions for you.
Where are new builds near the rail?
Most cluster along the Red Line, from the Downtown Transit Center through Midtown and the Museum District. The East End has new buildings near the Green Line, and Uptown has towers near the Silver Line. New builds open near these lines regularly, and the list updates as they do.
How do I find a new build near my stop?
Send us your stop or line, your move date and your all-in budget. We’ll list new builds by walk distance, price the parking, and line up tours along one line. It’s free to you, and your rent is the same either way.
